Ari Lennox
Courtney Shanade Salter, better known as Ari Lennox, is an American musician and singer from Washington, D.C., who was the first woman to sign with J. Cole's Dreamville Records record label. On October 21, 2016 she debuted Pho, her debut EP under the Dreamville Records label. This was when she gained her first recognition. Her debut studio album Shea Butter Baby was released on May 7, 2019. Ari Lennox started uploading her music onto the internet in 2012 as she dropped her first mixtape called Five Finger Discount and debut EP Ariography, in 2013. In 2014, she continued to share her music over the internet including her independently launched single Bound. The song was included in Omen's Elephant Eyes, from Sweat It Out, July 21st in 2015. In the following year, her music was circulating all over the Dreamville group as J. Cole wanted her to collaborate with him on some possible references for Rihanna. The announcement of her decision to be signed by Dreamville Records was made on the 8th day of December. Backseat was a track she recorded together with Cozz for The Revenge of the Dreamers II collaboration album. In October 21, 2016, the artist released her debut album called Pho. Ari Lennox later appeared on J. Cole's song Change and performed as an opening act for the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour in 2017. in 2018, the singer-songwriter performed on two tracks featuring EarthGang, on Nothing but the Best, as well as Bas On Icarus. Ari Lennox dropped her first song Whipped Cream off of Shea Butter Baby on July 16th. The music video was then followed by a short video in September. Then, in November, she released the singles 40 Shades of Choke & Grampa. Then, in November 2013, she released No One as well as Pedigree. She appeared with Cole in The Creed II Soundtrack on Shea Butter Baby, on November 16, and then made the track available as a single by herself for her debut album. The track was released with a video on YouTube 20 February 2019 was watched more than 3 million times within the first seven days. In December 2018 she was a supporting act on The From East Atlanta With Love Tour together with 6LACK.
